Motivated CUNY students can study "Down Under" in Australia, a fascinating country with flora and fauna unique to this continent, at the University of Canberra in the national capital of Canberra. Founded in 1968, the University of Canberra offers a broad range of academic programs on a 200-acre traditional campus located in the Bruce section of Canberra. The campus is conveniently situated near the town center of Belconnen (a 10-minute walk from campus) which offers a full range of shopping and entertainment services. Canberra is located near the Brindabella Ranges, approximately 93 miles inland from the coast.  Canberra offers a four-season climate, with hot, dry summers and mild winters relative to New York City.  The seasons are reversed from those in North America, with winters occurring June to August (with low temperatures 30-35 degrees F) and summers December to February (with high temperatures 75-80 degrees F).

UC is a world class institution with excellent student services and a broad range of courses taught in English offered in the following study areas:
Architecture and Building
Applied Science, Forensic Studies and Pathology
Arts, Laws and International Studies
Communication, Management and Commerce
Design, Media and Writing
Environmental Science

Canberra is a city of 365,000 people (20% of whom were born overseas) that offers you the best of city and country living. Canberra has world class sports, recreation, leisure facilities and beautiful scenery.  You’ll love feeding the semi-tame kangaroos, emus and koalas at Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve, visiting the Tidbinbilla Deep Space Tracking Station, and seeing the sights of the National Gallery of Australia, the National Library, and Parliament.  You will also quickly see that Australians are crazy about sports!  You’ll join in watching the number one spectator sport, Australian Rules Football (AFL), and the rough and tumble National Rugby League (NRL) games. You’ll also enjoy ample opportunities to hike, swim, surf, sail, snorkel, or play cricket and tennis, among other popular outdoor activities and sports.  You can catch an inexpensive flight to the exciting coastal cities and venture beyond to experience some of the most pristine and beautiful beaches and coastal nature anywhere.  To find more information about Canberra, you can visit the following websites:

The program is open to CUNY students only, who have at least 12 credits at the time of application, who are in good academic and student standing, and who have a minimum 2.75 GPA.  As there are a limited number of places, CSI students have a priority over CUNY studnets from other CUNY colleges.  These exchange programs require a certain level of maturity, independence, seriousness of purpose, and an ability to adapt to new environmental and academic conditions.
